An old christmas song:

Es ist ein Ros entsprungen

(Free translation)

A rose sprung up
from tender root
the old ones sang to us
Its strain from Jesse
Brings forth a flower
Midst a cold winter
Half the night.

  1. The genealogy of Jesus Christ is a very symbolic and historic phenomenon in the Christian race, Jesus can be traced through a terrific trend down from Abraham to David to the time of captivity in Babylon and down to his birth.
Generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

  2. Thanks for the tree, showing the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ. It Christmas and a very good time to remember our lord. I can see clearly that there is a direct link between Abraham and Jesus; if my mathematics is right there are forty-two generations between Abraham and Jesus illustrating the significant number 7 in six times. You have opened my eyes; once again I say Thank You

    1. Thank you!
You have a very keen eye!
Makes me wonder what the span is for 14 generations in time…
To accomplish the 7 times 7 and enter the time of jubilation indeed…

      Have a blessed time!

  3. Hi FleekyThe lineage from Jesse to Jesus is so important as it demonstrates that Jesus is descended from King David’s line. It is most certainly a long line but as they say an important line. In certain Catholic church’s during advent they use an actual Jesse tree, an actual tree that physically shows the lineage from Jesse to Jesus. I think this is important to know about this and I thank you for bringing this up. Prophecy is so important in the Bible.Do you think a physical representation of a Jesse tree is important?ThanksAntonio

    1. Hi Antonio, thank you for adding your experience with the Jesse tree with us.
We do not know this tradition in our country, so I thought it was a physical tree.
Knowing it is the genealogy line of Jesse, is indeed an eye opener and invites us to dig in history and the tradition of ancient churches and anchors us in time, language and culture.

So yes, a physical representation, like drawn here, helps to understand, at least for me…

      Have a wonderful Christmas!

  4. The genealogy of Jesus is a very symbolic trend in the story of our lord Jesus Christ.
He hailed from the lineage of Jesse the father of David.
    The old Christmas song;
    A rose sprung up
    from tender root
the old ones sang to us
    Its strain from Jesse
    Brings forth a flower
    Midst a cold winter
    Half the night.
Is a confirmation of the message God gave to prophet Isaiah concerning the birth of the savior of the world.

  6. Hello Fleeky, thanks for sharing this post on the Jesse tree. Sincerely speaking, this is the very first time I am reading about the phrase “Jesse tree”. I wonder why I have not heard this phrase before now. Good to see what it actually means – the descendants of Jesse. Our saviour comes from this root.Merry Christmas in advance.

    1. Morning Mr Blitz, good to read you! The Jesse tree or Tree of Jesse is lesser known by many indeed. It is an old invocation of the ancient churches…’ o tree of Jesse . , also known as the o antiphons of Christmas

  7. I am sorry, but I find your website hard to follow. Sometimes I didn’t understand the points you make.  I think the concept of planting and caring for trees is a sound idea, and I do use essential oils.  This isn’t helpful, I know. But maybe there ore others who would have the same reaction.

    1. Morning Dane, thank you for sharing your understanding and concerns. I will try to elaborate more in the future.
It was very helpful indeed. In many countries the tree is not just a physical presence, it has often deeper symbolics meanings. And if we are not used to this language, it is harder to grasp. Thank you again.
